The Complete Stelios Kazantzidis (Remastered)

His life in brief : Kazantzidis was born in 1931 to Haralambos Kazantzidis from the Black Sea and Gesthimani refugee from Asia Minor. He died in 2001 from cancer.  Orphaned at the age of 14 (his father died), he had casual works since the owner of a factory gave him a guitar, seeing that he had an unusual deep strong nice voice. His songs became the first of many hits and with his newfound popularity he began to make appearances with some of the biggest names in Greek music, among them Manolis Chiotis, Manos Hadzidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarhakos, Vassilis Tsitsanis (Rebetico classics), Christos Nikolopoulos and Marinella.

Why is Stelios Kazantzidis still popular today ? : In his songs, Kazantzidis talked to his generation who had hard life facing poverty, expatriate’s situation and social injustice. I talk about phenomenon because, walking in towns streets, I often listen to him. Why still today ? Because Stelios has always bucked « ordinary » people up in difficult periods. People need him today during the difficult economical crisis we go through.
give spirit, hope, warmth in our Greek hearts for ever… I am not fan of Stelios Kazatzidis but I confess that his voice gives me gooseflesh. I feel like having above me a powerful Father speaking to me. Then, I feel more quiet and safe. I think all the people feel what I do feel. Listen to one of my favourites songs « Who are you (women) » ? in a video below. I ‘m sure you will be enthralled…
